Description
Organic Abundant-Bloomsdale Spinach Seeds
Deeply crinkled, succulent with dark green leaves organic Abundant-Bloomsdale Spinach seeds produce leaves with a very sweet flavour and high in carotenoids. Abundant Bloomsdale is both disease resistant and slow to bolt. The original cross was made between the classic Bloomsdale crossed with a disease resistant variety called Evergreen. The offspring were selected further by a team of organic farmers in collaboration with plant breeder John Navazio and the Organic Seed Alliance (OSA). A portion of sales from this variety supports OSA’s breeding program.
Planting Instructions
Spinach is a cool season crop that likes moist fertile soil. Start seed in early spring as soon as soon as the soil can be worked and continue sowing every week or two until the soil is too warm for good germination (29 ˚ C). For baby leaf production sow seed 1 cm deep in a 5-10 cm band approximately 40 seeds per 30 cm of row. Begin harvest by clipping leaves at 3-5 weeks. For full size production so 9-10 seeds per 30 cm of row and space rows 30-45 cm apart. Sow in late July thru September for fall crops. Often overwinters under the snow in zone 5 regions.
