Description
Organic Clemson-Spineless Okra Seeds
Grown and harvested in Ontario, organic Clemson-Spineless Okra seeds take 56 days to reach maturity. Okra picked fresh from the garden is a tasty treat you rarely find in the grocery store. Clemson Spineless okra was introduced in 1939 and it is still popular today. The vigorous plants reach 1.5 m. and the lack of spines makes for easy picking. The nutritious pods reach 20 cm. but pick them at about 8 cm. when they are very tender and tasty. Okra is packed with fibre and many nutrients, including vitamin B6 and folic acid. Pick often to encourage heavier yields. Likes heat so give it a warm spot.
Planting Instructions
Start seedlings indoors 4-5 weeks before planting out date. Germination is best when temperatures are in the 26-32˚C range. Sow seeds 1 cm deep, 3 to a cell or pot. Thin to the strongest seedling by cutting the remaining seedlings at the soil line with scissors. This will minimize root disturbance. Plant out after soil has warmed up in mid June. Try not to disturb roots when planting out.
