Organic Lacinato Kale Seeds
Grown and harvested in Ontario, organic Lacinato Kale seeds take 30 days for baby greens and 65 days for full size maturity. Dark blue-green, strap-leaf kale is ornamental as well as edible. Leaves are heavily blistered, narrow with slightly turned under edges. Makes beautiful bunches for market. Very hardy and tolerates heat and cold.
Planting Instructions
Direct sow as soon as soil can be worked in spring or start indoors 4 weeks before planting out date. For fall production, sow 8-10 weeks before first frost date for full size and up until frost date for baby leaf. Sow seed .6 cm deep. For baby leaf production sow 50 seeds per 30 cm in 5-10 cm bands and harvest leaves at 3 1/2 to 5 weeks. For full size production sow 3-4 seeds every 20-25 cm in rows spaced 45-75 cm apart. Thin plants to 20-25 cm apart. Taste is improved after plants have been exposed to light frost. Hardy biennial.
