Description
Organic Bionda-di-Lyon Swiss-Chard Seeds
Grown and harvested in Ontario, organic Bionda-di-Lyon Swiss-Chard seeds take 25 days for baby greens and 50 days for full size maturity. Light green leaves have less fibre than other chards resulting in very tender greens. White stalks can be cooked separately from the leaves. Italian cookbooks offer many recipes for stalks on their own.
Planting Instructions
Start indoors 4-6 weeks before transplanting outdoors. Can also be direct seeded in mid-spring thru early summer. Chard does best in cool conditions but will tolerate some heat. Sow 1.5 cm deep and aim for a plant every 10 to 15 cm for bunching. Closer spacing is better for baby greens. Cut leaves and allow plants to regrow for continuous harvest.
