Description
Organic Copenhagen Cabbage Seeds
Grown and harvested in Ontario, organic Copenhagen Cabbage seeds have 65 days to maturity. This heirloom cabbage was introduced from Denmark in 1909 and is still a favorite today. Compact, round heads weigh 1.5 – 2 kg. and sit close to the ground on short stems. Plants mature uniformly and hold well in the field without splitting. Good fresh, cooked or made into sauerkraut.
Planting Instructions
Direct seed as soon as soil can be worked or start indoors 6-8 weeks before frost and plant out when plants are 4-6 weeks old. Sow seed .5 cm deep and 8 cm apart. Thin plants to 20-30 inches for early cabbages. You can direct seed in summer for a fall crop. Shallow rooted plants benefit from mulch. Use floating row covers to protect plants if flea beetles are a problem.
